Thanks to Audris Wong for teaching us about Chinese New Year and sharing a lovely treat of steamed buns, cookies, and special Chinese coins. We also enjoyed the traditional performance of the Lion Dancers from China Town, along with a performance from some first and second grade girls and the third grade Mandrain Chinese language class. Ms. Schlieker and Mrs. Young fed the lion cabbage for good luck and firecrackers were lit outside in the Courtyard! This is the Year of the Snake and it began officially on Saturday. See if your child remembers his/her zodiac animal (either the monkey or rooster). Gung Hay Fat Choy!
5TH GRADE BAKE SALE TOMORROW!
The 5th grade will be holding it's annual bake sale this week and they will be visiting our class tomorrow during lunch time. For many years now, fifth graders have conducted a bake sale to benefit a charitable institution or organization. This year all proceeds with be donated to three charities (local, national and international) recommended by students. Your child is invited to purchase. Items will cost up to $1.00. Thanks for your support!
SNOW
Be sure to check out the Snow album in the Gallery that includes the latest photos from our snowy week! We have a wonderful time sledding last week and playing in the snow on the Midway.
VALENTINE'S DAY
Don't forget to send in your child's Valentine's Day cards by Thursday. We will also have a Valentine's Day Pizza Party for lunch with fruit and beverages. Your child does not need a lunch on Thursday (unless he/she does not like pizza) but please remember to send a snack!
Enjoy the upcoming long weekend! Soon, we will begin a special letter writing activity called Family Message Journals. Look for an email early next week describing your role and all the details!
