We have moved our scheduled picnic lunch to Wednesday so we can join our Kindergarten Buddies for one final time. The picnic lunch will be held from 12:00-1:00 roughly. NO HEAT UPS PLEASE! Parents are still welcome to join us in Jackson Park. If you planned on joining us tomorrow for lunch, feel free to meet us in the classroom instead (at 12:00) to enjoy lunch with your soon-to-be third grader.
FIELD TRIP TO NAPER SETTLEMENT ON TUESDAY
On Tuesday we will go on our last field trip of the year to the Naper Settlement. Parent chaperones include: Michael Maitland, Joel Pekow and Laura Weinrib, James LaBelle, Lorna Dickson, Melissa McMahill, and Tamara McDonough. Here is some important information for the trip:
- The buses will depart at 8:45 so please be on time for school. Plan to meet in the classroom around 8:30-8:35. We will return to ESH around 1:30 p.m.
- Children (and chaperones) should pack a brown bag lunch with beverage. All lunches must be labeled as they will be stored at the Naper Settlement as we tour the grounds.
- Children should bring snack to eat on the bus. Please pack the snack in a separate bag as we will collect lunches when children arrive Tuesday morning.
- Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Sunscreen should be applied before arriving at school. The forecast is calling for low to mid 60s while we are there and we will spend the entire day outside.
HAT PARADE
Tomorrow the entire second grade will parade around ESH and over to the Historic Campus wearing the hats the made in Art class. Please make sure your child wears comfortable shoes and has a light jacket or sweater for the walk. We will start at 9:15 and I'll be sure to take lots of photos!

Children need a regular snacks and lunches on Monday, and brown-bag lunches with separate snack on Tuesday and Wednesday for field trip and picnic day. No lunch is needed on Thursday due to the 11:30 dismissal, but please send a snack. We will also enjoy popsicles on the last day of school as we say farewell to Hunter before he and his family move this summer.

CLASS PHOTOS/SEESAW
Class photos will be available to you on the Flickr website for easy download. More photos will be added this week. The summer birthday photos have been posted.
At the end of the school year, I will be archiving our class journals. You will receive a notification when this happens with instructions to download a zip archive of your child’s journal to save to your computer from the SeeSaw website. After the class has been archived, you will have 60 days to download the files. Here is a link with all the directions. You do not have to wait to download your child's files until I archive the class. Many parents have already tried it and it works!
THANK YOU
We’d like to give a huge thank you to Patty Jones, Shelly Quiles, Anne Groves, Melissa McMahill, Blake Cooper, Sarah Keedy, Tamara McDonough and all the other parents who organized and contributed to many classroom events and activities this year. It’s hard to believe that this year is ending and that our students are almost third graders! We are so proud of all their accomplishments and growth! It’s been a great pleasure working with your children and it will be hard to say goodbye. We’d like to thank all the families for your patience and support. We wish everyone a relaxing and fun summer. Please stop by to visit us if you are at Earl Shapiro Hall next year!
