Enjoy this video that Mr. Gunty shared with us. It shows the astronauts from Apollo 17 enjoying their time on the moon and the lower gravity!
As a part of the Global Read Aloud, Katherine Applegate, the author of The One and Only Ivan, answered questions submitted by students in the video below. We learned so much about her book and the characters in it. The sound is very quiet so you may need to use headphones. Second Graders - What did you learn from Katherine Applegate that most surprised you? (First names only please!) Last week, we finished reading The One and Only Ivan and learned that this story was inspired by a real gorilla. Ivan was a gorilla who lived 27 years of his life at a Tacoma, Washington mall. In 1995, because of protests and the support of his fans, he was relocated to the Atlanta Zoo where he lived out the rest of his life. Ivan died in August at the age of 50+ years old. Here is a video of him from the zoo: Don't forget - use only your first name on your comment!
